For thousands of children living in India’s slums, the idea of going to school feels like an impossible dream. Their mornings begin with the struggle for food and survival, not classrooms or lessons. Many of them are seen picking rags, working in roadside stalls, or simply roaming the streets, unaware of what a pencil or a notebook feels like. Poverty traps them in a cycle where education becomes a privilege instead of a right. The Child Educational Trust was founded to change this narrative. Since 2018, the organization has worked every single day to bring books, uniforms, and opportunities into the hands of children who were once denied their basic right to learn.
The scale of the challenge is overwhelming. India still has millions of out-of-school children, most of them from poor and migrant families who cannot afford school fees or even basic stationery. Each day a child spends outside a classroom is a day lost to child labor, early marriage, or hunger. Many of the children the Child Educational Trust meets on the ground are eager to learn but are forced to drop out because their families cannot provide notebooks, pencils, or school uniforms. When education is denied, so is the possibility of dignity and self-reliance. This lack of opportunity not only impacts the child but also keeps entire families trapped in generational poverty.
“One child with a book is one community with a chance to rise.”
Child Educational Trust
To fight this reality, the Child Educational Trust distributes more than 200 education kits every single month in slum communities across Patna. Each kit contains essentials like notebooks, pencils, pens, and a school bag — simple things that become the building blocks of a brighter future. Alongside this, volunteers organize open-air tuition classes in community spaces, ensuring that even children without access to schools can sit, learn, and feel included in the world of education. Stories like that of Rajesh, a young boy who once picked rags to survive, inspire us to keep moving. Today, Rajesh attends school with confidence because he was given the tools and encouragement that every child deserves. His transformation proves that with consistent support, education can indeed break the chains of poverty.
But the Child Educational Trust does not stop at basic schooling. The organization is preparing to introduce Smart Classrooms in slum clusters, equipped with digital learning tools, science kits, and interactive sessions. The vision is to bring modern education to children who have only known deprivation, so they can compete with peers in mainstream schools and imagine careers beyond the boundaries of poverty. By providing exposure to technology and new-age learning, the Trust hopes to inspire curiosity, ambition, and self-confidence among underprivileged children. This vision is not just about education — it is about creating leaders of tomorrow who rise from the very streets they once struggled on.
Every single contribution brings this dream closer to reality. A donation of just ₹500 can provide one child with a complete education kit for an entire year. That small support can prevent a child from dropping out and give them the dignity of learning. When one child learns, an entire family begins to see the possibility of a different life. The Child Educational Trust believes that each book placed in a child’s hand is not only an act of charity but an investment in India’s future. Together with our supporters, we are determined to ensure that no child remains trapped in poverty because of a lack of education.
